She looked surprised herself, then sighed. “When I came back here, Matt, I came home in a way. My grandmother used to live in the

cabin. She owned the mountain. Now it’s mine.”

He thought about that while they groomed the horses and stabled them, not commenting until they’d returned to the cabin and carried

coffee out to the porch.

“No one told me you owned the mountain,” he ventured finally.
